The 4th of July tends to hold a lot of meaning for those who call Miami home. Of course, we have to add our Miami flavor to the most patriotic day of the year, whether it’s via a mojo-soaked barbecue, a star-spangled fireworks display on the bay, or a pool party that’s every shade of red, white and booze. But hey, that’s what freedom is all about, right? So light up those sparklers and pledge your allegiance to a good time. Here are the best ways to celebrate the 4th of July weekend in Miami. (We'll be updating this guide as the holiday approaches, so check back often.)

Pack up your lawn chairs and load up the cooler. This year, the Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO) performs a set of American classics at Peacock Park accompanied by an epic drone show in lieu of fireworks. The event is free and open to the public—and it’s within walking distance to plenty of other festive 4th of July events happening all over Coconut Grove.
